Review: Prince Joe by Suzanne Brockmann

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Pages: 256pp
Isbn: 155166948X
Challenge This one covers two challenges at the same time.
#1 Read Around The Genres
#2 Fall 2008 Reading Challenge

First Sentence or two: Friendly fire. It was called friendly because it came from the U.S. bombers and missile launchers, but it sure as hell didn't feel friendly to Navy SEAL Lieutenant Joe Catalanotto, as it fell from the sky like deadly rain.

Back Cover Blurb: Veronica St. John is facing the challenge of a lifetime. The media consultant has two days to teach a rugged Navy SEAL to impersonate a European prince who has been targeted by terrorists. It's a tough assignment, but Veronica is sure she's up to the task — until she actually meets Joe.

Despite his physical resemblance to the handsome prince, Lieutenant Joe Catalanofto is nothing like the stuffy aristocrat. Everything about the combat-hardened Navy SEAL — from the arrogant gleam in his eyes and streetwise attitude to the New York accent — says regular guy, not royalty. One conversation and Veronica knows nothing could turn this military man into nobility. Joe, on the other hand, is confident he's got what it takes to complete his duty.

But neither of them expects their assignment to include falling in love . . .

Random Thoughts Well truth be told, I am not a huge fan of contemporary books. On that note though, I somehow find that I am reading them almost as much as the historical. Enjoying them too. So, that said. I enjoyed the book even though I was HUGELY distracted this week. It took me twice as long to read this book due to the setting up of my Blog.

Favorite Scene My favorite part was when Veronica told Joe she loved him in front of God and everybody. He had his secret ear piece on as well as a few other SEALS and many other agents who were there to protect, and she says into the ear piece that she loves him. I thought it was cute. He couldn't stop smiling like a fool. Not to mention guys in the service tease each other mercilessly. So I know his SEALS will never let him forget that.

Rating I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

*Note This is part of a series she has written. She has a few different series. This book is the first book in the "Tall, Dark and Dangerous" series. The rest of the books feature the rest of the SEALS on Joe's team. We got a peek at some of the guys so now it will be fun to read their very own books.

I stole your book challenge idea. I'm not reading the same books but for a person who doesn't read much, the idea of the book challenge really struck me. By the way, you really made me want to read this book as I kind of have a thing for the whole military man in uniform. Hmm. I'll have to remember it as I have plenty of other reading to do myself. Thanks for the idea though!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog. So glad you liked the guy in the title area. Yummy!

If you liked Prince Joe and haven't read the other books by Suzanne, might I recommend her other Navy SEALs books? Excellent. One of my all-time favorite characters is from that series. Jules Cassidy rocks! :)

I just won a $75 gift certificate from Nalini Singh & have no idea what to buy. Any suggestions?

You right a good review, but not really my kind of book.
Have you read anything by James Herbert?
He's a Brit who writes horror fiction in the kind of way that i have never read before, my favourite book of which is The Rats, an especially visceral horror on the subject of one of makinds most primal fears. In fact The Rats was the first of a series of three loosely connected stories, the other being The Lair (a direct sequel) and Domain, a post apocalyptic story in which the Rats are back.

Let me know if you join Shelfari. I will friend ya.

*Lady-I definitely plan on reading more of that series. Love a man in uniform.

*Diesel-I read a lot of fiction and they tend to be in the Romance genres. Paranormal/Romance. I also like a good cozy mystery. Nothing to heavy. My overactive mind doesn't stop when I sleep. Therefore giving me nightmares. I will have to look up that author though. See what he is about.

I thank you all for leaving me comments. Lots of people don't seem to understand comments not only welcome but appreciated.

Well Jen, something from James Herbert that may cause less in the way of nightmares, but still provide good reading would be "The Magic Cottage", it's a story about...magic!

Diesel- I will definitely look that book up. I do so love my paranormal things. I like to be inside their heads and thoughts and not on the outside about to be attacked by them. LOL Big difference. Keeps me sane. Well as "Sane" as I can be thought of. =)~
