First Sentence or two: "Let me get this straight," Jodie Pulanski said. "You want to give Cal Bonner a woman for a birthday present."
Synopsis:
Lonely, single, and 34, brainy physicist Jane Darlington is determined to have a baby-even if she has to pretend to be a hooker (and a "birthday present" for football star Cal Bonner) to do it. She doesn't expect, however, that her quarterback is a whole lot smarter than Jane had hoped, definitely more honorable than she had expected, and simply won't take no for an answer. Although the initial premise (while funny) is a stretch, the protagonists are strong and appealing and draw the readers into a sensual, heartwarming story that is graced with some interesting secondary characters, including a savvy backwoods grandmother with ideas of her own.
Random Thoughts - Yes this idea can be a bit far fetched, but that is also what makes this book so much fun to read. I am thoroughly enjoying the various characters and plots of the different "Stars" football team. This one wasn't my top book in the Stars lineup but it had some great writing and wonderful scenes.
Favorite Scene - Any scene that Annie was in .....they were a treat to read. I also enjoyed a few of the scenes with Cal and Jane going toe to toe verbally. I liked the fact that she could stand up to him and he totally respected her for that. Not to mention how it turned him on. Always a plus. The very best scene of the book in my opinion was when she found out he graduated with honors from college and found out he wasn't stupid after all. He confronts her about her "REAL" age just after she finds out about his degree. That made for some good arguing that from the outside would sound like a couple of crazy people arguing over nothing. LOL
Rating - I give this book 4 stars.
Next up: In the Chicago "Stars" series..."This Heart of Mine".
